Membership

The only requirement to be a member of the Actors' Union is to be a professional actor or actress. This can be proved with a certificate of Drama Studies or proof of work experience as an actor or actress.

Membership offers a number of services: legal advice as well as legal and social coverage; access and guidance to the information available in the employment department; access to the Union's training courses given by outstanding professionals; subscription to the Actors' Magazine; inclusion in the Actors' Guidebook (hard copy and on-line) at the minimum rate covering manufacturing cost; discounts in theatres, drama schools, training centres, specialised bookshops,...

As a member of the Union, you are part of a group that defends your rights and fights for the improvement and dignity of the acting profession.

Membership advantages:

  • You can (and you should) check all your contracts with us. Our colleagues in the Labour department can advise and orientate you about exclusive use, intellectual property and copyright, dates and duration of engagement, etc.
  • Collective agreements: consult with us any doubts about minimum rates of payment, subsistence allowances, payment of rehearsals, etc.
  • We can help you know and understand the legislation that rules our collective agreements, so that you are aware of your rights and of what you can demand from production companies, employment agencies or agents. We can also advise and inform you about your relationship with agents.
  • The work in publicity and advertisements is still not regulated in Spain. We are working and pressuring to change this situation. We can help you with references about rates of payment, employment procedures, broadcasting rights, etc.
  • Our employment department is formed by colleagues who are professional actresses. They can inform, orientate and advise you. You can turn to them if you want to know about casting procedures and casting directors, how to present your material, how to look for an agent if you need one, etc.
  • You will get detailed and reliable information about new projects and productions; theatre, cinema and television casting calls; formation of new theatre companies, vacancies in established companies, etc.
  • You have access to our training courses which have a high reputation due to the participation of outstanding teachers and professionals both national and international.
  • Our Union card proves you are a professional performer and offers a number of discounts.
  • As a member of the Union you keep contact with your profession: the Union represents a channel of communication and exchange of information. You can contribute to improve the situation of the acting profession by sharing your experiences, opinions, criticism, denunciations, proposals...
